Morris, Elmer Frank: August 7, 1996, The Chronicle-Herald/The Mail-Star, Halifax, NS: Elmer Frank Morris: 74, Harrigan Cove, Halifax Co., died Monday, August 5, 1996, in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke, after a lengthy illness of Parkinson’s disease and cancer. Born in West Liscomb, Guysborough Co., he was a son of the late John A. and Daisy (Corkum) Morris. He resided in Liscomb, Guysborough Co. for a number of years; in Halifax for many years and at MacDonalds Cove Road, Harrigan Cove, for the past nine years. He was a naval veteran, gunner and member of the Military Police. He served overseas during the Second World War. He was also an amateur boxer in the Navy. He was an employee of the International Longshoremans Association of Halifax for 38 years, where he displayed many acts of strength and stamina most uncommon for a man of his stature. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Langridge, Sherbrooke; sons, Terrence and Dennis, Liscomb; Patrick, Jordanville, Guysborough Co.; Kirk, Weymouth, Digby Co.; David, Ottawa, Ont.; grandchildren, Sheree, Robyn Lyn, April, Cory, Matthew; brothers, Harold, Murray, Halifax; Willard, Kitchener, Ont.; Jack, Toronto; sisters, Mary, Muriel, Halifax. He was predeceased by an infant son, Douglas. The body is resting at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Liscomb, with visitation from 6-9 p.m. tonight and from where funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 1996, at 2:30 p.m., Rev. David Curry officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. Lukes Church, Liscomb. Arrangements entrusted to Ecum Secum Funeral Home.
Morris, James Wallace ‘Wally’: August 16, 2007, Halifax Herald, Halifax, NS: James Wallace “Wally” Morris: 64, Brookside, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Harrigan Cove, he was a son of the late James E. and M. Nora Morris. For 40 years, Wally had been employed with Ben’s Bakery as the Maintenance Manager, retiring in September 2003. He loved hunting and fishing, but especially enjoyed RVing with his wife. His grandson, Benjamin, was his pride and joy. Wally is survived by his wife of 36 years, Darlene (Warskett); his sons, Kirkland (Sherri), Toronto, Ont., and Andrew (Amy), Halifax; his special grandson, Benjamin; brothers, Wendell, Dartmouth, and Graham (Sharon), Lower East Chezzetcook; sisters, Brenda Davies (Ron), Oshawa, Ont., and Theresa Anthony, Dartmouth; half-sister, Leotta Lowe, Aylesford, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and his many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Leora. A celebration of Wally’s life will be held on Friday, August 17, from 7-9 p.m. in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the QEII Foundation in memory of James Wallace Morris. Born in Moser River, Tuesday April 10, 1928, he was a son of the late Ernest and Miranda (MacDonald) Moser. He was employed with the Halifax School Board for 23 years until his retirement in 1991. Surviving are stepson, Barry Holman, Dartmouth; brothers, Ronald, Murray “Bud”, Dartmouth; Elmer, Summerside, Prince Edward Island; stepbrothers, Robert Gallant, Prince Edward Island; Elwood Gallant, Ontario; stepsisters, Theresa Ashley, Mildred Arsenault, Prince Edward Island; Reta Gallant, Ontario; step-grandchildren, Mary Jane, Tara, Shawn, Mark; step-great-grandchildren, Haley and Taylor. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Gladys Bezanson; stepmother, Rose Moser; stepbrother, Russell Gallant; stepsister, Doris Moser. Visitation 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. today in D.S. He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen, Halifax; two sons, Wayne, Cole Harbour; Bill, Kentville; one brother, Harold, Cole Harbour; two sisters, Beulah (Mrs. Lewis Sharpe), Moser River; Bernice (Mrs. Harris Rutledge), Sheet Harbour; three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Ida Jewers; two brothers, Douglas and George; two sisters, Kathleen and Margaret. The body is in Ecum Secum Funeral Home. Moser, Earl Cyril: November 17, 2009, Chronicle Herald, Halifax, NS: Earl Cyril Moser: 91, Moser River, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009, in Duncan MacMillan Nursing Home, Sheet Harbour. Born in Moser River on September 18, 1918, he was a son of the late William and Melissa (Bezanson) Moser. Earl was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a Second World War veteran, serving with the Halifax Rifles. Earl worked many years with Chisholm Construction building roads in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing crib and solitaire, and gardening. Survived by daughters, Faye (Frank) Holland, Moncton, N.B; Joan (Cory) Fiander, Fall River; grandchildren, Darcy (Kaori), Michael (Wendy), Jillian (Justin); brother- in-law, Bill Smith. He was predeceased by wife, Helen; brothers, Rueben, Crandell, John; sisters, Elizabeth Scrivens, Bertha Smith, Hilda Watt and Doris Smith. Cremation has taken place under the direction of D. S. Crowell and Son Funeral Home. Graveside committal service will be held Saturday, November 21, at 2 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Moser River, Verna Dunlop officiating.
