Cross – Davidson, Dorothy V. : Saturday April 5, 2008, Halifax Herald: Dorothy V. Davidson: 87, passed away Thursday April 3, 2008, in The Mira, Truro. Born in Harrigan Cove, November 18, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Minnie and Harris Cross. She is survived by son, Wayne, Truro; granddaughters, Juli (Pat) Gordon, Nicole (Jason) Faulkner; their mother, Donna; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Faulkner, Janelle Gordon, Truro; sister, Shirley (Walter) Wheeler, Dartmouth; brothers, Melvin (Jean), Leslie (Maxine), Dartmouth; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; sister, Della; brothers, Guy, Kenneth, Terry. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Sunday, April 6, and memorial service 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, all in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth, with Rev. Andy Crowell officiating. Interment to follow in Mount Herman Cemetery, Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Cross – Joudrey, Idella Maxine ‘Della’: Age 78, died unexpectedly March 27, 2001, in Bridgewater. Born in Harrigan Cove, she was a daughter of the late Harris and Minnie (Woodworth) Cross. Della is survived by those whom she held dear and who will remember her with deep love, Charlie, her husband of 58 years; sons, Jeff and Philip Joudrey; Susan Joudrey, Martin Provost; grandchildren, Kristin, Jonathan and Mark Joudrey; Anne Kenney; Melvin and Jean Cross, Leslie and Maxine Cross, Dorothy Davidson, Shirley and Walt Wheeler, Vivian Cross; many friends and relatives. She was predeceased by brothers, Guy, Kenneth and Terry Cross. Della was a member of Bridgewater United Baptist Church and a Dominion life member of United Baptist Women’s Missionary Union. She lived with a sturdy faith, confident in God’s love and certain that her job was to spread that love in caring for others. There was always room for others in her heart, home and at her table, and always time and space for the other’s story and need. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” A memorial service will be held in Bridgewater United Baptist Church, Friday, March 30, at 2 p.m. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, March 29, in Sweeny’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Arthritis Society, Bridgewater United Baptist Church, United Baptist Women’s Missionary Union or charity of choice.
