According to his death record, Henry Ephriam MacDonald was born July 10, 1860 at Harrigan Cove, the son of Maryann Jordan (born Harrigan Cove) and Daniel MacDonald (born Harrigan Cove). He died May 26, 1943 at Harrigan Cove at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 16 days. He had worked for 56 years as a labourer and general labourer in the fishing industry.

At the age of 35, Henry married Margaret ‘Maggie’ Catherine Rumley on August 30, 1902 at Harrigan Cove.

Maggie was 23 years old at the time of marriage. She was born May 19, 1882 at Liscomb, Guysborough County, NS, the daughter of Margaret and David Rumley. According to the 1891 Canada Census, the Rumley family was living at Sheet Harbour, Halifax County, NS. Maggie was 8 years old.

In the 1901 Census, Maggie was 18 years old, and working as domestic servant for and living with Anna and Robert Moser at Harrigan Cove.
